Receipts for bigger purchases help with returns, warranty claims, insurance claims and, for home improvements, taxes when you sell.
How to keep them
- Snap a photo of the receipt right away; paper receipts fade
- Keep the receipt and warranty together, or scanned together
- Many manuals are online, so you can recycle the paper copy
- Note the purchase date and card used, in case of card purchase protections
